CEO, IMEC

Patrick Vandenameele was appointed as the new CEO of Imec in September 2025. He started his career at Imec in 1996, after obtaining a PhD in electrical engineering at KU Leuven. He left Imec in 2000 to start an entrepreneurial career, co-founding and leading a series of deep-tech ventures, three of which leveraging Imec technology.  As a result of acquisitions, he spent a total of ten years in senior leadership teams of semiconductor companies such as Qorvo and Hisilicon/Huawei. Overall, his career outside imec led to 11 market introductions and 100Ms of shipped parts. He rejoined Imec in 2017 to ramp up its venture development activities in close collaboration with the venturing fund imec.xpand. Since 2021, Vandenameele has played a key role in shaping Imec’s R&D strategy, preparing Imec for the next era.
