Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) play a vital role in economies worldwide, especially in Spain and the Valencian region, where the production sectors are predominantly made up of family-owned SMEs. However, globalisation poses both opportunities and challenges, often widening the innovation and technology gap between the scientific and production sectors. REDIT—the Network of Technological Institutes of the Valencian Community—works to bridge this gap by providing essential access to financing, knowledge, and technology transfer, thus fostering competitiveness and innovation in SMEs. We bring together 11 Technological Institutes that act as key agents in the Regional System of Science, Technology, and Enterprise. These institutes have established themselves as leaders in promoting technological development, innovation, and R&D projects, working closely with SMEs to integrate them into more advanced innovation ecosystems. Every year, REDIT works with more than 14.000 companies, both in the region and in the rest of Europe and the world.
REDIT is Spain’s first SME innovation support network, offering a high-value portfolio of technological and innovation services, a modern technological infrastructure (+200.000m2), and an integrated network of human resources (2.065 staff dedicated to R&d+i). Through strategic collaborations and synergies at both regional and international levels, REDIT continues to drive technological advancement and ensure that SMEs remain competitive on the global stage. In fact, over the 2019-2023 period, REDIT‘s Technological Institutes attracted a total of €116 million from national and European programs and supported their clients in securing €493 million in funding. We are the main Spanish network supporting innovation in SMEs: more than 50% of Spanish companies that work with technology centres do so with those of the Valencian region.
REDIT was created with the objective to become an efficient support tool to the innovation system, by strengthening the Valencia Model of Technological Centres advantages. In this sense, the Network acts as an important interface, establishing links between public institutions, universities and enterprises.
